Knots
A way to disrupt my practice is to return to the monoprint, a process where one can make decisions quickly, on impulse, and see the outcome of effort immediately. It is a form of sketching with paint, with the printing press the veil between expectation and outcome that one can never fully control.
I began this session by drawing on the plate, and incorporating a winged seed pod. Ended with tree knots, which look like parts of the human body: eyes, nipples, wounds, and other entrances and exits.
