Stone and rock
While visiting Maine, we found ourselves camping near a small beach filled with stones and sedimentary rocks covered with designs from centuries of compaction of geologic and atmospheric history.
I brought several sheets of paper on our trip and disappeared off by myself to gather by the water on one cold, quiet, foggy afternoon.
Burial mound. Bundled baby.
Tender care, violent birth, and sorry death.
Left behind.
Remembered. Forgotten. Remembered.
